The National Rural EMS Infrastructure Study
The South Carolina Rural Health Research Center (SCRHRC) has graciously been given the responsibility of cataloguing the location of all Emergency Medical Services in the United States. When completed, the catalog will be made available to EMS directors, constituents, researchers, and policy makers for targeting funding and support for improving EMS. This effort, under the auspices of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP), and the National Association of State Emergency Medical Services Directors (NASEMSD) is monumental in forging a foundational perspective of EMS.
To complete the catalogue, support and response from every state is vital. The information requested is general and non-invasive. We plan to paint a picture of EMS today using the requested information in conjunction with other databases. Once completed a formal report will be presented to the ORHP for approval. Approved reports will be disseminated to all participating states for their use.
State offices may submit information electronically (i.e., email or mail data) and forgo using this web site. If states wish to submit electronically please contact the project leader Daniel Patterson at patters7@mailbox.sc.edu or by phone at (803)-240-7689 / (803)-251-6317. Each state office is welcome to supply a disk or CD with the requested information in any format (Microsoft Word, Excel or Access preferred). The SCRHRC will gladly supply the necessary materials (Disk or CD) to replace any used in fulfilling this request.
Thank you for your time and assistance in this most important endeavor.
Sincerely,
Daniel Patterson, MPH
